Embracing Our Brokenness

Updated: Sep 25, 2024

Why are we often surprised when the brokenness of humanity reveals itself? Whether in relationships, friendships, or among coworkers, this brokenness inevitably comes to light. How do we respond? Do we flee or fight? Do we cast judgment or get defensive? Do we minimize or bypass it?

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.” Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As humans, we tend to separate or compartmentalize things we don’t understand. But God is not just a part of us; He is aware of every aspect of our lives, including our sin and brokenness. We shouldn’t be afraid of these flaws. In fact, our responses to brokenness highlight the areas God wants to restore and redeem.

"The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus form the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you." Romans 8:11 NLT

Brokenness is not something to shrink back from. It is precisely what God sent His Son to address. By facing our brokenness head-on, we open ourselves to the healing and redemption that God offers. Let’s embrace our imperfections and allow them to guide us toward growth and restoration.
